Full description
Learn all about the Santa Maria delle Grazie, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of Milan’s finest examples of Renaissance and Gothic architecture. The basilica boasts a fascinating and significant history that you will learn about during the course of this tour. It was built by the order of the Duke of Milan, Francesco I Sforza, to transform and elevate the former ancient Solariano convent. The basilica’s construction was completed in 1497 and at the request of the Duke, Ludovico il Moro, it was destined to become the mausoleum of the Sforza family. As you stroll through the venue, admire the Basilica’s interior, so intricately designed by Bramante and Solari. As you marvel at its hidden treasures, you can tune into your multilingual audio guide to hear all about their fascinating histories.
