  • From Mendoza: Full-Day Cordon del Plata Andes Trek

    1. From Mendoza: Full-Day Cordon del Plata Andes Trek

After being picked up at 8:30 AM in Mendoza, travel to Cordon del Plata. On the way, take in the amazing views of the Potrerillos Dam and of the main mountains. See Cerro Plata, which reaches 5970 meters in altitude.   After driving for 80 kilometers you will reach Vallecitos at the foot of Cordon del Plata mountain range. Hike in a beautiful ravine called La Angostura with amazing views of the surrounding mountains and wildlife such as condores and guanacos.   For a more challenging trek, you can climb to the Morro del Negro summit at 3800 meters. After 6 to 8 hours of trekking, enjoy some coffee or mate (a caffeinated tea), before returning to the city. You will arrive in Mendoza at around 6:30 PM.

This was a fantastic day trip. Vanina and Joaquín run their own company and are trained mountain guides. Safety comes first with them, even for inexperienced people, this tour is highly recommended. Vanina planned ahead, managed to adapt the tour to our needs perfectly, in adition to being an extremely knowledgeable guide and a fun person. You cannot go wrong with them, worth every cent.

  • Trekking & Barbecue In The Andes From Mendoza City

    2. Trekking & Barbecue In The Andes From Mendoza City

Start with a two-hour drive to the beginning of the trek in the Andes front range called "Cordon del Plata". On the way, you will be able to see the Cacheuta Village and Potrerillos dam. Part of the Front Range, the "Cordon del Plata", has a maximum altitude of 5968m, a length of 80 kilometers and it is home to an incredible variety of landscapes. The trek is along one of its ravines called "La Angostura", with an approximate duration of 3 and a half hours during which you will be able to enjoy the views of Potrerillos dam, the pre-mountain range area and of some of the highest peaks in the Range. If you are lucky, you will be able to spot some "condors" and "guanacos" since it is their natural habitat. When finishing the hike, you will be welcomed by a typical Argentinean "asado" and wine from the region.

Excellent planned hike & BBQ. Guide has best English and very personal. Organization and pick up perfect. Small & intimate experience.

The experience was great. The path is very beautiful and the activity puts us in direct contact with nature. We walked all the time to the sound of the Mendoza River and we could feel the peace of being in the mountains. The agency's project is relatively new and is also a way of benefiting the local people, promoting social and economic inclusion for those who live there. In this sense, the support point is located in a very simple house, which is also an old disabled train station, where a family lives. The owners of the house themselves prepared our meal, with salads and a wonderful barbecue. Joaquín, our guide, is an enthusiast of this project and little by little he is structuring the customer reception base, together with the benefited family. The site has received improvements, such as painting and furniture to better serve tourists. It was a pleasant surprise to meet this project, which will make everyone grow together. I highly recommend it.

A peaceful hiking day with a guide, who respects customer and nature.

It is promising to meet a local mountain guide, who is respecting nature and willing to develop his skills and services. With some more experience and small investments to asado facilities and equipment, the upgrade to five stars is evident. Hike like we had would take you in the middle of wildlife, inspiring nature and you will return back from the mountains full of energy.

Joaquin, our guide, was fantastic. He planned a great route for our trek, away from the standard paths. He had prepared some lovely local dishes for our packed lunch and told us all about the local wildlife and ecology
