Experience the highlights of medieval Aix en Provence, Cassis National Park of UNESCO Calanques, and discover the main monuments of Marseille, the most ancient and Phocean city in France on this full-day small group tour.
What to Expect
Start your day with a walking guided tour of Aix en Provence historical center. Visit the cathedral, soak up the atmosphere walking around the narrow streets, squares, fountains, private mansions, and experience a food tasting tour with your guide.
Drive to Cassis, called the little "Saint Tropez" of Provence, famous for its national park, small port, and seafood restaurants. Relax on the beach, explore the tiny town, or board on a mini cruise through the natural canyons, often compared to the fjords in Norway for their turquoise waters and white cliffs. Have free time for a leisurely lunch.
Have a photo stop and free time for a short hiking tour on top of the highest sea cliff in Europe, Cap Canaille. From there, enjoy a panoramic view of the Bay of Cassis and the Mediterranean.
The last visit takes place in Marseille where you will discover the main monuments of this ancient Phocean city. Visit Notre Dame de la Garde Basilica to admire 360° panoramic views, visit the archeological crypt of the 12th century medieval abbey Saint-Victor, walk around the old port and Fort Saint John to admire the new museum building, the MuCEM and its surroundings.
