Day 1: Marsa Alam - Giza
After a hotel pick-up in Marsa Alam, transfer by air-conditioned private van to Hurghada Airport for your flight to Cairo, where you will be accompanied by an Egyptologist tour guide to Sakkara, part of the massive necropolis of Memphis.
Location for the burial site of most of the Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt, you will see the first pyramid ever built in Egypt at the Step Pyramid of King Djoser. Designed by Imhotep, the ancient Egyptian architect, it dates from the 27th-Century BC.
Visit the Pyramid of Teti, and the tombs of the Pharaohs in Sakkara. Continue to Memphis, the ancient Capital of Egypt, to visit the colossal statue of Ramses II and the nearby half-buried Hathor Temple, one of the best preserved temples in all Egypt.
Drive to the famous Giza Plateau to visit the Great Pyramids. One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the complex includes the Great Pyramid of Cheops, Middle Pyramid of Chephren, and the smallest of the 3 Giza pyramids, the Pyramid of Mykerinos.
While in Giza, take in the mysterious Great Sphinx, and tour the Valley Temple facing the Sphinx. Lunch is included en route, and at the end of your tour of Giza Plateau, transfer to your hotel in Cairo for some time at leisure.
Day 2: Cairo - Marsa Alam
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before taking a guided tour of the world-famous Museum of Egyptian Antiquities.
Built in a Neo-Classical style by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon, the museum’s fantastic collections now exceed 120,000 masterpieces, ranging from the pre-dynastic era, to the Pharaonic era, and the Greco-Roman period in Egypt.
Move on to the Citadel of Saladin, overlooking Cairo from the Muqattam Hills. Tour the Mohammed Ali Alabaster Mosque, built in the Turkish style and resembling the Blue Mosque in Istanbul. Considered one of the finest landmarks in Cairo, its minaret can be seen from any part of old Cairo.
Continue your Cairo tour with an exploration of the city’s Christian heritage in Coptic Cairo. See some of the earliest religious monuments of the city, such as the extraordinary Hanging Church, named for its location on top of the south gate of the Fortress of Babylon, and significant for becoming the center of Christianity in Egypt.
Afterwards, spend the afternoon shopping in the warren of streets of the Khan El Khalili Bazaar. Try out your haggling skills as you explore the old market, and pick up some great souvenir bargains.
You will then be transferred to Cairo Domestic Airport for your flight back to Hurghada, where you will be transferred to your hotel in Marsa Alam.
