What to Expect
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Zagora

Travel from Marrakesh through Morocco’s Atlas Mountains to spend a night in the Draa Valley.

After leaving Marrakesh, you will cross the 2,260 meters(7,414 feet) high Tizi N'Tichka's pass to reach the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is famous both for its earthen constructions and for being the filming location of movies such as The Mummy, Gladiator, 7 Days in Tibet and Alexander the Great.

Taking the road to Zagora (about 167 kilometers / 103 miles) and reach Agdz, where you will emerge from the mountains to catch a first, extraordinary glimpse of the Draa Valley and the oases. There is a thick streak of palms reaching out into the haze, and the first sign of the Draa Kasbahs, rising from the land where the green gives way to the desert.

You will have dinner and spend the night at Zagora. Here you have the option of taking a camel ride.

Distance: 350 kilometers (216 miles)

Day 2: Zagora – Draa valley – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

After breakfast, the tour continues through the mountains to Ouarzazate. Ouarzazate is home to one of the world’s largest film studios. Movies such as Lawrence of Arabia and Babel were filmed here.

Your journey back to Marrakech begins after lunch. Once again you will travel through the Tizi N’tichka’s passes.
