Take a day out of your visit to Marrakech for a trip to the Ouzoud Waterfalls, among the most beautiful sites of the High Atlas Mountains. You’ll have a chance to hike, swim, eat, and take in the beauty of the rich vegetation and native animal life.
What to Expect
Ourika Valley, at the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains, is just 45 minutes south-east of Marrakech. The valley is popular with locals during the summer months, offering a great escape from the heat of Marrakech.
This day trip to Ourika Valley is ideal for nature lovers. You can take a light trek to one of the smaller waterfalls, or just relax and enjoy a snack at one of the local cafés under the shade of the walnut trees.
After a 30-minute drive via the fertile Haouz plains you’ll reach Tnin Ouika center, where you’ll stop to explore the open-air Berber market. Although it’s open every day, Mondays are the liveliest.
From here you’ll continue on to Setti Fatma. On the way, stop at a Berber house where you’ll share a cup of mint tea with the locals before reaching the Setti Fatma Berber village.
When you arrive in the village you’ll head out on a light trek to the waterfalls above the village. Local guides are available for hire. When you return to the village where you can enjoy lunch at leisure at one of the local cafés by the stream.
