What an experience!! It was amazing!!! some practical info: (we went the end of November). First night at guest house is descent. The second day you go to the Toubkal base camp. Its cold in there, you can see your breath (even if its +20°C outside), its humid, there is limited electricity (like 1-3 hours), you don't want to shower there and you're in a room with 30 other people. Its part of the experience, just be sure to come prepared. Food was always good and plenty. What you NEED: Towel Sleeping bag headlight WARM gloves (ski type) Warm socks and pants Walking shoes Dress in layers! Clampons hiking sticks are optional (I went without, most people in my group brought some with them). We all rented the clampons (150 dirhams). Other things can also be rented like headlight, hiking sticks (but bring cash, they also accept euro, renting everything gets expensive). The guides Houssain and Zaïd are amazing. They try to adjust the pace to your level but you go in group (we were with 9).
This was such an amazing experience! I’m a solo traveler and was wanting to join a group to meet people and share this experience and was blessed with such a great group. We were a group of 6 from 4 different countries. We had so much fun. Our guide, Hassan, was amazing! He’s from the village we started at and has done this trek more times than he can count so rest assured that you are in good hands with him, and really any of the guides. I met several of them on at the refuge and the trek to the summit on day 2 as they all pitch in to assure everyone is taken care of. Hassan is so kind and patient. I highly recommend him and his whole team for this trek. They were all so nice and accommodating, ensuring that we all had an excellent experience. Our cook was amazing as well. All our meals were delicious and well presented. It gets cold at the refuge at least this time of year so be sure to pack warm clothes for the night and for the summit. It gets windy and really cold up there.
