What to Expect
Learn about the history and culture of Morocco on this guided tour of Marrakech. On this 2-part tour (both parts lasting 3 hours), you will explore the medina and the souks, and enjoy a delicious lunch at a stylish riad inbetween.
To start off the tour you will explore the southern medina with its stunning historical buildings. Visit the magnificent Bahia Palace and the tombs of the former Saadi dynasty. Stroll through the Jewish Quarter, past the Mellah, and across the market of Mellah. If there is enough time, you can also see the ruins of El Badi Palace with the historical pulpit of Koutoubia Mosque.
Enjoy lunch at the stylish Riyad El Cadi. Discover the classic architecture of Moroccan homes: a house surrounding a courtyard with a beautiful garden, which is sheltered from the busy streets. Depending on the season, you can eat on the sunny roof terrace or in the cool shade of the citrus trees. Enjoy a salad and a main course, prepared in advance according to your tastes.
After lunch you will continue on to the artisan neighborhood of the city. See metal welding, leather workers, woodworkers, and henna women at work. Visit vegetable markets, communal ovens, and a traditional Berber pharmacy where you can find natural remedies for many ailments and medical conditions. At the end of the tour you can admire the beautiful architecture of the Ben Youssef Madrasa.
