Full description
Your driver will meet you at your accommodation (or preferred pick-up point) at 9.00 am to start the transfer to Imlil. On your way you will pass through the town of Tahnaout where you can stop at an Argan Oil Co-operative and learn how the woman of the co-operative turn the Argan nut into many of the different Argan Oil-based products Morocco is famous for. You will then continue on through Asni where, on Saturdays, a traditional Berber Souk and market can be visited. Once you arrive in Imlil you will stop for a welcome glass of mint tea and meet your guide before commencing your tour of the local area. Your guide will help you decide on the length of your tour (you can choose between 1 and 3 hours) and then you will make your way to the largest and highest village in Imlil Valley. Your journey will take you past waterfalls and the hamlets of Ait Mizan, Targa and Imoula. You will stop off in Tamatert and have the opportunity to take in the views of ancient irrigated terraced fields of barley, corn, and vegetables, surrounded by cherry and walnut trees. Your guide will point out things of interest and talk to you about the Berber culture and heritage along the way. Travel down through the village of Ait Souka and afterwards enjoy a traditional Moroccan meal in a Berber family guest house. Once you are rested you will begin your return trip down the other side of the valley to Taourirt to meet your vehicle. Your return transfer will take you via Moulay Brahim Gorges, where you will arrive at a main trailhead with streams and paths branching out in all directions. Here you will have the opportunity to experience riding a camel. You will then continue your journey back to Marrakech, arriving back at approximately 6.00 pm.

The trip was really nice and smooth, big thanks to Abdul our guide who was very informative, helpful and friendly,he spoke very good english and explained a lot about the local culture and the places and invited us for nice Morrocan tea at his home, the lunch and small breakfast were excellent too, totally recommend this trip.

Abdul, our guide, and Mohammed (the driver) created a superb experience, was open to discuss the Berber and Arab cultures, to explain the way of life in the villages we visited. We enjoyed a lot, the places were not crowded. The trip itself is not really a hike, but more of a walk between various villages: you get superb views (of course if it is not your 53rd vacation this month and you have seen everything), plus you see how rural Berber people live. The morning visit to the argan oil cooperative is also an interesting experience for those who like cooking, taking care of the skins and just smelling things. The tour ended with mint tea drinking a talking at Abdul's home, which was again is interesting to see and experience.

Overall it was nice but there was few things that could be improved. First of all during our first stop to see a village, the guide got a little too deep in the history of the village and Islam in general which was interesting only for first few minutes. The Argan oil house was a nice experience with breakfast and tea served for us there. One thing that was the most disappointing was the camel ride as the spot was just on the side of a road with all the camels tied together so that when we were riding them, camels head was tied to the other camels bum in front of him. It just felt quite uncomfortable and definitely not what we thought it would be.
