From Marrakesh: 3-Day Trip to Berber Villages

This trek is highly recommendable for people who wants to experience berber culture close-hand and the beauty of the High Atlas Mountains without the struggle of finding out where to go, where to sleep and where to eat. Our guide Lassim and cook Ali took us to the mountains and introduced us to the berber people which still lives in accordance with tradition and customs. Expect an authentic encounter with the curious and friendly berber people. Don't expect villages transformed by tourism in any way, nor wifi. During the trip Lassim explained us everything we wanted to know about berber culture and the surrounding mountains and nature. Ali cooked decent marrocan dishes for us on the whole trip and made sure that we never missed a cup of fresh mint tea. All together a highly recommendable trip, especially when taking the cost into consideration.

We totally enjoyed this trekking so we highly recomend to do it. The landscapes are fantastic and change all the time. You can't see them unless you do a trekking as authentic as this. Moreover, you pass through authentics berebers villages. You only can arrive to them walking, because they are completely isolated, in the middle of the mountains or the valleys. Appart from this, you sleep in bereber houses too, and that's fabolous. The houses are warm, have a shower with hot water and are very clean. The guide and the cook are very nice and polite. The cook cooks very well!! All the dishes were delicious and belonged to bereber traditional cooking. Moreover, we were veggie and vegan, and he adapted perfectly to this!!! So we were very very happy! The transport from and to Marrakesh was perfect too! They picked us up in the riad punctually. The only thing that we should say is you have to be quite fit to do this trekking because you have to walk quite some time. Diego and Cristina.

Beautiful tour in a wonderful landscape. Very well organized. Our hotel was very hidden, but they called the hotel and found us anyways. In Imlil it was already really cold, we got hot tea and gave our bagpack to Ali who loaded it on the mule. With Hamid we startet our tour. Ali was always cooking, making tea and making sure we were alright. Hamid was always there to answer our questions and explain about Berber's customs. So apart from seeing wonderful landscapes and finding yourself in the middrle of reddish mountains, you will learn about Berber's culture. If you travel in winter make sure to bring warm clothes, because it will be freezing at night as there is no heating. You will sleep in Berbers villages and therefore get a full experience. Day 2 will be very exhausting but worth every minute. We enjoyed this trek very much and feel very lucky to have been accompanied by Ali and Hamid, two wounderful people.
