Florin, my guide, was a local boy from the Maramures. This made a huge difference in his knowledge of the area plus the access he had to local villagers. There's no mistaking Florin's passion for history and his people. There's a saying in Maramures that you'll never leave hungry. This is so true, the beautiful food is dished up in abundance. The visits to the wooden churches, the villagers, the Merry Cemetery and other stops are wonderful. I loved this trip. Overnight accommodation was modern and warm (we had a below zero night). Highly recommend
