Malta’s 3 Cities Tour & Wine Tasting

1. Malta’s 3 Cities Tour & Wine Tasting

Enjoy a half-day tour of Malta’s 3 Cities, a collective term for the 3 fortified cities of Cospicua, Vittoriosa, and Senglea. You will learn about the history and rich culture of the Mediterranean island, and sample some of Malta’s full-bodied wines at the Marsovin Cellars. With pick-ups from any hotel in Malta, the tour you will take you through Cospicua, a double-fortified harbor city, and the largest of the 3 cities you will visit. Cospicua was given the title “Citta' Cottonera,” but erroneously this is now used to define the whole region. Continue to Vittoriosa, ideally situated for safe anchorage. Over time it has developed a long history of maritime, mercantile, and military activities. Prior to the establishment of Valletta as capital and main city of Malta, military powers that wanted to rule the Maltese islands would need to obtain control of Vittoriosa, due to its significant position in the Grand Harbour. The 3rd city, Senglea, is also called “Civitas Invicta,” because it managed to resist the Ottoman invasion at the Great Siege of 1565. The name Senglea was given by the grandmaster Claude De La Sengle, and the island on which it lies was joined by a land bridge to Cospicua during the time of the Knights of St. John. You will walk through the charming narrow streets of the town, shaded by dozens of historic churches and buildings. You will then drive to Marsovin Cellars in Marsa. Your tour will commence with a historical introduction, followed by an explanation about the process of how locally grown grapes are pressed, fermented, and eventually transformed into wine. A walk through the 400-year-old Ageing Cellars provides an authentic piece of Maltese heritage. To end your excursion, head to the Marsovin wine bar, where trained staff guide guests through a wine-tasting session. Raise a glass and sample different Marsovin wines, accompanied by a selection of local savories, such as Maltese bread and cheese.

Our trip was excellent. Coach turned up on time. The visit to Marsovin Winery was very good, really enjoyed the wine tasting and bought some wine there which I thought was very reasonably priced. Will definitely buy from their onsite shop next time I’m in Malta rather than buying from the supermarket! The 3 cities was very good our guide answered all questions, very approachable. Will definitely recommend this tour to anyone. Dropped back where picked up. Emailed your company a couple days before tour to confirm pickup point and time and always got a quick response and confirmed pickup point and time.

We have been looked after by Mark. It was easy going, enjoyable walk trough 3 cities and then we went to wine tasting at Marsovin winery. It was educational and enjoyable. Eat before the wine tasting. Mark gives you about 20 minutes in the city before wine tasting so use that to eat something as Maltese snacks are bread with tomatoes and lovely olive oil and some crackers We have been dropped off near the hotel. All in all ,it was lovely and pleasant day

What a lovely tour!! Definitely a must do in Malta. One of my favorite tours. Mark the tour guide is energetic and extremely knowledgeable. The three cities are iconic, we even got to visit a local church which was a bonus!!! The wine tasting was beautifully executed by Fabian. A memorable experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. My favorite tour in all of Malta! ❤️

It was a nice experience and a good value for money, given that the excursion includes pick up/drop off, live guide and a wine tasting with sommelier!

The wine tour was excellent. Very good guide. Walking tour good but we were a big group so not always easy to hear. Transfers worked very well.
