Explore the elegant boulevards and squares of Madrid on a guided sightseeing tour, and marvel at monuments such as the Fountain of Neptune and Calle Mayor. Then visit one of Europe's finest contemporary art museums in the "Golden Triangle of Art"
What to Expect
Start your tour of Madrid in the historic heart of the city at a 19th-century plaza of formal gardens and sculptures of past Spanish monarchs.
Journey through the history of the city, including the days of the Habsburgs, at sites such as Plaza de España, just steps from the Royal Palace. Discover some of the green oases, such as the Parque del Oeste and Buen Retiro Park. Go to the Príncipe Pio and the 19th-century bridge of the Puente del Rey. See the Shrine of the Virgen del Puerto, hidden between the River Manzanares and the Campo del Moro gardens.
Travel down Calle Mayor and into the Plaza de la Villa, and experience the everyday life of the city at notable landmarks including the Puerta del Sol, Fuente de Neptuno (Fountain of Neptune) and the immense bullring of Las Ventas. Stop for a complimentary soft drink at the Hard Rock Cafe, before continuing to Madrid's new town, where among its modern buildings you will see the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
At the end of your sightseeing tour, enter the Reina Sofia Museum to see the permanent exhibition of works by great 20th-century Spanish artists, especially Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali and Joan Miró. Stroll around the museum at your own pace to discover art by René Magritte, Óscar Domínguez, Georges Braque, Robert Delaunay, Fernand Léger, Francis Bacon, Antonio Saura and many others.
