Spend the day in Luxor, marveling at the tombs and temples of many of the most famous pharaohs, including King Hatshepsut, King Tut-ankhamun, and King Ramsis II.
What to Expect
Enjoy a full-day tour around Luxor. If you only have one day to spend in Luxor, and you want to get all the highlights of the antique city, this is the perfect introduction to Thebes.
Start your morning visit in the Valley of the Kings, the burial place of the pharaohs of the new kingdom, where the tombs and mummies of Hatshepsut, Ramsis II, Tuthmosis III, King Tut-ankhamun, and others have been found. Tombs are white-washed and painted in bright colors that have remained untouched for thousands of years. These tombs give us an inside look at the beliefs of the Egyptians and their concern for life after death.
Continue the tour by visiting the temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the lady pharaoh who reigned for over 20 years. This temple is unique & completely different in style & design from the other temples in Egypt.
On the way back, stop to take quick photos of the two Colossi of Memnon. These giant statues once stood by the entrance of the Memorial Temple of King Amenhotep II, the father of Akhenaton, the monotheist pharaoh.
Spend the rest of the afternoon visiting Karnak Temple, the largest and oldest of the temples. Walk around its giant columns and long avenue headed by statues of the Sphinx.
