What to Expect
A string of pharaonic mortuary temples and richly-decorated tombs make the West Bank of Luxor even more of an archaeological paradise than the East. The West Bank is also the gateway to the amazing Valley of the Kings. This guided excursion takes you for a full day of awe-inspiring sights in the most legendary setting of the ancient world.
Crossing the Nile River to the West Bank, you'll visit the mortuary temples and tomb complex at Deir el-Bahari of the Theban Necropolis. Arriving at the Valley of the Kings, you will have a brief stop at the visitors center. Guides are not permitted inside the tombs, but your guide will tell you what to look for inside the elaborately decorated rooms. Here you will visit 3 tombs and, for an an additional cost, you may visit the tomb of Tutankhamun as well as the tomb of Ramses VI.
Leaving Valley of the Kings, you will visit the Temple of Hatshepsut, one of the most striking monuments of ancient Egypt. Your guide will introduce you to the history of the temple and relate the story of Queen Hatshepsut. There is free time to explore at your leisure as you wander the large courtyards and admire the hieroglyphic decorations.
Returning to Luxor there will be time for a brief photo stop at the Colossi of Memnon.
