Begin this once-in-a-lifetime experience with an early-morning pickup from your hotel in Luxor at around 4:00 AM. Transfer by boat across the Nile River to West Bank, where you will be greeted by members of the staff with coffee, tea, and snacks. On the boat, the pilot of your balloon will brief you on safety measures and answer any questions you may have. Once the pilot goes over the pre-flight checklist, he'll also brief the ground crew. Luxor is possibly one of the hottest places on Earth so please remember a hat, water and shades! Our guide Yola was so friendly that by the end any inhibitions were gone. There was no pressure to buy anything that she took us to and I walked away with some lovely gifts for my family at prices I wouldn’t have been able to get in Cairo. The trip was long as I naively and foolishly booked the bus but what was really nice was the manager came to pick us up to make sure we got the right stop! So after 8+ hours we finally made it. The city is stunning. The monuments are breathtaking and you can’t help but be awed by everything. On the way back we got on a different bus where we saw the real Egypt! This bus took forever as we had many pit stops and finally arrived back in Cairo at 6:30am where the same driver was waiting for us. So apart from the heat and the journey I could not say enough lovely things about Yola and the overall experience
