Trek across the ice of the largest glacier in Los Glaciares National Park on a 6-hour tour of Viedma, with round-trip transfers from El Chalten to and from Port Bahia Tunel. Walk on ice fields to get spectacular views of the snow-capped mountains.
What to Expect
Enjoy a thrilling full-day trek across the ice of Viedma Glacier, the largest glacier in Argentina’s stunning Los Glaciares National Park. Mountain guides, certified by the Argentine Association of Mountain Guides and Administration of National Parks, will be on hand to help you every step of the way.
You will trek for approximately 2 hours, crossing the slowly moving ice of the National Park of Santa Cruz Province. See the fabulous colors of the glacier as it flows directly through the Southern Patagonian Ice Field to Viedma Lake. Surrounded by beautiful mountains covered in snow, the basin receives most of its water from the glacier, which breaks away from the wets of the Mariano Moreno mountain range between Mt. Huemul (8,780 feet/2,677 meters) and Mt. Campana (8,430 feet/2,570 meters).
Admire stunning views of the glacier colors and shapes, as it towers more than 130 feet (40 meters) above the lake, rising at the heart of the ice field to heights of between 4,920 feet (1,500 meters) and 7,215 feet (2,200 meters).
