Birds, animals and sea life at Spain's Loro Parque

Loro Parque, translating to “Parrot Park,” was established as a paradise for the sweet, talkative creatures themselves and, since its 1972 opening, remains home to 4,000 parrots representing 350 species. What other animals call this sanctuary home?

Sea Lions

The kids will love watching these funny guys play tricks, waddle poolside, and snooze in the sunshine.

Tunnel Aquarium Life

Walk beneath the sharks in a tunnel aquarium filled with 1,200,000 of seawater brought just 150 meters away straight from the Atlantic Ocean off the Canary Islands.

There’s no doubt that these fellas are some of the most intelligent and mischievous animals in the world. Watch them laugh and play at the dolphin show, offered four times daily.

Tigers and Jaguars

Don't miss your chance to hang out with these giant cats during your visit. One of Loro’s jaguars recently had twins!

Did we mention the parrots?

The loveable namesakes of Loro Parque beg another mention. Check out The Loro Show, performed six times daily, to see the clever creatures ride tiny bikes, count, and solve puzzles.

Loro Parque: Our Tips

The Shows Are Included

The tickets are steep, starting at 34€ for adults, but all of the attractions are included. Aside from the mentioned parrot and dolphin shows, you can also catch performances by orcas and sea lions. For a break from the outdoors, hit up the Nature Vision, an indoor movie theater that plays a 20 minute-long film 9 times daily.

Admire the Gardens

Hear the most beautiful birdcalls in the word at the Katandra Treetops, a replicated tropical jungle filled with some of the most gorgeous birds from Australia and Asia.

Visit the Orquidarium

Loro Parque Spain is also the home to some 25,000 different species of orchids. You’ll be amazed first by the fragrance and then by the incredible diversity of these botanical wonders.

What People Are Saying About Loro Parque

An entire day of fun in a lovely setting.

Loro Parque is a zoo with a difference. There are exhibits as in a zoo, but the shows are very attractive and informative, seeking to instill love for the creatures taking part at the same time.

Siam Park - awesome and a bit of adrenaline, Loro Park not yet visited

an awesome park with quite acceptable prices of food, the attractions and the surroundings of the park are awesome. Would deff recommend.

Excellent idea saved time at the parks...

Glad we decided to book ahead we didn't have to wait and buy tickets...wish I had bought the transfer as well but our resort was awesome in helping us out...would definitely recommend especially if your impatient like we are...will book again

A great day out especially if you have teenagers with you....!

Took the advice from others who had visited and went straight to the beach to set up base camp. We were close to the restaurants, bathrooms, lockers and the background music (which was fairly gentle). Our group included older children (18-22) who had a great day out. They thoroughly enjoyed the range of slides available and were also happy to take their old Mum on Lazy River which was very gentle. Waves at the beach were also good fun, and for those that are less adventurous you can spend a nice relaxing day on a sun bed, and have somewhere easy to cool off. The bus to the water park was full by the time it got to our stop - but a taxi was only 5 euros and pre-booking makes a big difference to entry which was a little chaotic at opening time. The day flew by - and was a great start to our holiday. Ps we wore Factor 50 and needed it.
