Full description
Established in the 11th century by William the Conqueror, Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world. It has been remodeled by a succession of kings and queens, including Henry II, Charles II, and George IV. Today The Queen spends most of her private weekends at Windsor Castle, which is also used regularly for ceremonial and state occasions. Your ticket provides admission to the Castle, including the magnificent State Apartments, which are furnished with some of the finest treasures from the royal collection. Among the masterpieces are paintings by Holbein, Rubens, and Van Dyck, as well as fine English and French furniture. During the winter months, the sumptuous private apartments created by George IV, known as the Semi-State Rooms, are added to the visitor route. Your admission also includes access to St. George's Chapel. This is one of the most beautiful ecclesiastical buildings in England, and is the final resting place for 10 monarchs, including Henry VIII and Charles I. There is a lot to see and do at Windsor Castle, so please allow enough time to make the most of your visit, which is likely to last between 2.5 and 3 hours. The Castle is at situated at the top of a steep hill, and the visitor route covers long distances, so comfortable shoes are advised.

Smooth easy process from email to door entry. Friendly helpful staff. Beautiful place to visit. You're given an audio guide which was really helpful and easy to use. It helped to understand the history behind the castle and to appreciated the items on show. Only criticism it that I got lost from the high street finding the ticket entrance. Sign posts around the High Street may have helped. I don't believe I saw any. A very lovely day, will go again!!

The history alone is worth the entrance fee. The restoration is truly stunning and to finally see the works of art that you only see in books is excellent. St Georges Chapel is exceptional and the Princess Charlotte tomb sculpture is craftsmanship beyond words. Knowledgable assistants were on hand to answer questions about items and background not covered in the very good audio guide. All-in-all a must see if you interested in History. Covid restrictions meant there's was no 'Changing of the Guard' which was a shame.

Excellent visit. I was unable to hear the audio tour as I wear hearing aids, the audio was at a pre set level and whilst I asked if it could be increased the guide helpers couldn't increase the volume. My wife said the audio guide was very good. The state rooms was really interesting and there was so much to see.
