What to Expect
Take a short but rich walk through one of London’s most historic, attraction-dense neighborhoods on a half-day walking tour of Westminster.
Meet your guide outside Westminster Tube (Underground) Station, opposite the Palace of Westminster, a stunning example of neo-Gothic architecture. The palace began life as a royal residence, but is now home to both chambers of the Houses of Parliament. See the iconic Clock Tower where Big Ben chimes the hours. Across the river is the London Eye, Europe's highest ferris wheel.
Your guide will explain the history of Westminster Abbey on Parliament Square, taking you through some of the kings and queens that have been crowned there since 1066. Walk up Whitehall, passing 10 Downing Street (the official residence of the British Prime Minister) and Horseguards Parade. Go through Admiralty Arch to Trafalgar Square, dominated by Nelson’s Column.
At the north end of the square lies the National Gallery, home to a vast collection of masterpieces from the Middle Ages to the impressionists. Access to the National Gallery is free, providing the chance to see paintings by Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, Van Gogh and more.
