Full description
Words cannot describe what it’s like being part of London’s East End, you simply have to experience it for yourself. It’s a place where the locals have a strong sense of community and an optimistic vibe. Now, you will discover this amazing character like a local, with a local that utterly adores this part of town. Hunts for Bargains Start with the Whitechapel Gallery: London’s first- ever publicly funded art gallery, famous for its offbeat, avant garde exhibitions. After the gallery, it’s off to a world famous street market, where thousands of Londoners shop for bargains, ranging from work-wear clothes to the latest accessories in urban fashion. You’ll love the friendly chatter between stallholders and shoppers, and you’ll get a genuine feel of what it’s like to live in this dynamic city. You’ll also enjoy plenty of street food and street performers. Genuine London Pub Atmosphere Pass the Pub where you can have a glass of ale later, just like Jack the Ripper did 100 years ago. Or, if the Christ Church is open, why not take five minutes inside this Baroque masterpiece.  Provocative Art After that, your host will show you what used to be a junkyard… but don’t worry, it’s been transformed into a magical “alternative art and performance space”, with plenty of urban art, street food and open air music. You’ll see how Londoners enjoy to party while appreciating contemporary art and music. A great place to mingle with the locals, taste their food, experience their music, and create magnificent memories. Exotic Restaurants A walk down Brick Lane reveals more of this cultural melting pot and what was once an area of poverty and slums, but has now been transformed into a lively neighborhood of open markets, exotic restaurants, and trendy bars. As a hub of London's Bangladeshi community, Brick Lane has always been famed for its many authentic curry restaurants – your host can advise which ones will best suit your desires. World's Most Iconic Street Artist This tour of urban alternatives finishes off with an encounter of the Designated Graffiti Area featuring Banksy’s original “Guard Dog and His Master’s Voice”. Highly contemporary, highly urban, and uniquely London. In just two hours, will have tasted East End’s vibrant and unique character, and created memories to last a lifetime.

Excellent, got really insight never cought otherwise

Can really recommend. It's meant to be interactive and that was great. Our guide was very knowledgeable about history as well as actual local topics. Our main focus was more on street art and some local special community aspects. But you can interact if other topics are of more interest for you. We will remember this tour as our most valuable topic during our stay in London.

Hidden connections we could never have found!

Anais was so generous with her knowledge and time - especially as it was a 34 degree day in London and it could have been hard going. She met us at the Whitechapel art gallery, and took us through laneways and markets and showed us hidden connections in Spitalfields and Shoreditch which allowed us to retrace our steps and return to vintage clothing stores, cafes and streetscapes we'd seen along the way. We couldn't have found our way with her. We have 3 kids (aged 11-15). They loved the street art in particular!
