What to Expect
First of all you will be picked up from the hotel you’re staying and proceed to the town of Sintra, which is added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. Stroll through the ancient streets of Sintra and visit its most interesting tourist destinations. It is worth noting that Sintra is a popular tourist attraction in Portugal due to its remarkable 19th century Romantic architecture and breath-taking landscapes. Pena National Palace will be the first destination in Sintra. It is an outstanding Romanticist palace situated in one of the municipalities of Sintra. The palace was built on top of a hill, and as a result it can be easily seen from any point in Lisbon. The Pena National Palace is considered to be a national monument and one of the most important expressions of the Romanticist epoch.
There is one more remarkable palace to see near Lisbon – the Sintra National Palace. Some people also call it Town Palace. It is considered to be the best preserved medieval Royal Palace in the whole Portugal, which has been inhabited for at least several centuries since the 15th century and up till the end of the 19th century.
The history of the castle began at the times of Islamic Domination, when it was built to serve as a residence for Moorish rulers. Nowadays the castle represents the mixture of Gothic, Moorish and Manueline styles. The next destination will be Cabo da Roca, from where you will move to the town of Cascais passing by its famous windy beaches and also going through Estoril where World War refugees arrived for safety. Lunch can be at a sea front restaurant with fresh grilled fish or Gourmet seafood, like shellfish or lobster.
