What to Expect
Escape the hustle and bustle of Lisbon for the day and discover the fairytale palaces and castles of Sintra. Follow in the footsteps of the Moors, poets, painters, and Portuguese royals. Go to the “End of the World,” and more.
Depart Lisbon for the verdant hills of Sintra Natural Park. The bohemian village - a favorite with the Portuguese royals - reveals itself from afar and is filled with mysticism and charming tales. Upon arrival in the village, go to Vila Palace on Moon Hill and learn its direct relations with the origins of Portuguese nationality. Get a better understanding of the evolution of Portuguese art, from the Middle Ages to the “Age of Discoveries.”
Discover bubbling springs of crystal-clear water, and parks covered with flowers. Stroll through the old village center to see black stone pavements and colorful houses. Marvel at the views of the surrounding scenery, including the imposing Monte Magno.
Go to the mysterious 19th-centruty palace of the Quinta da Regaleira, and admire its Masonic decorations. After lunch, transfer to continental Europe’s westernmost point at Cabo da Roca, and be dazzled by the breathtaking landscape of rugged rocks and wild Atlantic waves.
Continue to Cascais where you will have some free time to wander the historic streets and to do some shopping.
