What to Expect
Lisbon is a city that enthralls the senses at every turn. The "city of the seven hills" welcomes you with its smile, enlivens you with its smells, and enchants you with its warmth. During our full day tour, you will have the chance to experience some of the best Lisbon has to offer in a fun and engaging look at our culture, history and monuments.
The day begins together at your hotel in Lisbon, where you will be picked up before being transported to the 11th century area of Parque das Nações. The area is a leisure, commercial, and residential area in Lisbon, and covers an extensive area next to the Tagus estuary, which used to be used for industry. The area underwent a tremendous transformation in the 1990s when it was chosen as the location for the Expo '98 World Exhibition. You will be able to stroll the streets and enjoy a bit of the history from your guide.
Our itinerary also includes plenty of other sights to enchant you. First there is the area of Sé, with its old history and the Castelo de São Jorge, which occupies a compounding position overlooking the city and the broad Tagus River. We have the chance to visit several other parks during our day together as well, and your understanding of Lisbon will be truly enriched by this experience.
We save some of the best for last, when we visit the Torre de Belém, which is a fortified tower and was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site (along with the nearby Jerónimos Monastery which we also visit). This significant tower played a large role in Portugese maritime discoveries, and you will be amazed by its history. We also have a chance to visit the National Coach Museum, which has one of the finest collections of historical carriages in the world.
Our day together will give you a wonderful overview of the history and beauty that Lisbon has to offer, and by the evening we part ways for you to enjoy a night of Fado or a nice fish soup somewhere in this lovely city.
