Take a day trip to UNESCO World Heritage site Fatima and explore old and modern city sanctuaries. You'll also get to visit monasteries at Batalha and Alcobaça and taste local cuisine in the fishing village of Nazaré.
What to Expect
You’ll be picked up at your accommodation between 8:00 and 9:30am for the 1-hour drive to Fátima, the City of Miracles. This 10-hour tour takes you through lovely scenery and to historic villages, as well as to one of the top religious pilgrimages sites in the world.
In Fátima, your guide will take you on a visit to both the old and modern Fátima sanctuaries, and you’ll also have some free time to explore on your own.
Next, you’ll head to the monasteries at Batalha and Alcobaça. In Alcobaça, you’ll hear about the most tragic love story of Portuguese history.
After some free time for lunch and the opportunity to enjoy the local cuisine and wine, the tour continues on to the charming fishing village of Nazaré. Visit an interesting 16th-century shrine and take in some stunning views.
Óbidos is next on the itinerary, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where you’ll take a walk along the narrow medieval streets of the walled city. If you like, you can have a taste of the traditional Ginjinha liquor before the return drive to Lisbon.
