What to Expect
One hour away from Lisbon, the traditional town of Caldas da Rainha is an important secular center of the ceramic industry. Established in the 19th century, Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro, the greatest and most distinguished Portuguese ceramist and cartoonist, known for his utilitarian and decorative ceramics, is also famous for his social and political satire ceramic doll pieces.
Visit the museum and the shop at Molde factory and go through the entire process from the molding of the clay to the final decorative art and do your own ceramic piece.
After lunch visit Marinha Grande, capital of glass manufacturing, and visit the museum of the factory, a neoclassic palatial building from the 18th century.
