What to Expect
Today's private tour shows you some of the most beautiful parts of Portugal's rich history. Begin at The Grutas de Mira de Aire; the largest and most impressive caves in Portugal. Recently named one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Portugal. Situated in Serra de Candeeiro mountains close to the central Portugal towns of Tomar and Torres Novas, the caves make for a fascinating day out for all the family.

In addition to the superb stalactites and stalagmites the Grutas de Mira de Aire has an underground river, the Rio Negro (Black River). The waters of the Rio Negro flow through the cave system into a large lagoon at the Sala Grande (Grand Hall) where fountains are lit in a variety of colours.

Discover Fátima, a place of pilgrimage for thousands and thousands of people, best known for the religious visions that reportedly took place there in 1917, and the Sanctuary that is one of the biggest in the world.

Visit the Monastery of Alcobaca, a 12th century gothic monastery dating back to the foundation time and hear the tragic love story of King Pedro I and his love, Ines de Castro.

The tour ends at the Monastery of Batalha, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most iconic examples of Late Gothic Architecture. Discover the massive monastery of Batalha, 14th century. Visit the tomb of "Henry, the Navigator" and get a detailed explanation of his life. Make sure to snap a few pictures here to show off to your friends back home!
