Villa Cavrois Entrance ticket

10. Villa Cavrois Entrance ticket

At the beginning of the 20th century, the North was one of the most industrialized regions of France. Roubaix and Tourcoing were then an important center of textile production, which earned Roubaix the name of “city of a thousand chimneys”. The Cavrois-Mahieu company, founded in 1865, manufactures high-end fabrics for Parisian houses. In 1923, the company, which had five factories, employed nearly 700 employees. Paul Cavrois, owner of the company, decides to build a house for his family. In 1922-1923, he acquired land in Croix, on the outskirts of Roubaix. In 1929, Paul Cavrois entrusted the construction of his villa to the architect Robert Mallet-Stevens. Mallet-Stevens developed his project in 1929 and the villa was inaugurated three years later, on the occasion of the marriage of one of the daughters of the family, Geneviève. Mallet-Stevens developed his project in 1929 and the villa was inaugurated three years later, on the occasion of the marriage of one of the daughters of the family, Geneviève. Abandoned, the villa is prey to vandalism and deteriorates rapidly, despite its classification as a historical monument in 1990. Thanks to the mobilization of a preservation association, the State acquires a large part of the property in 2001: the villa and the central part of the park.

Very good thank you ! A small suggestion . The bus was parked at blvd de Turin and as the painting on this specific bus said ‘ Charleroi airport ‘ transfer , I kept looking / waiting for Zeventum airport transfer bus . Due to the slight rain and windy weather , and there were no other passengers the bus doors were closed . I managed to see the front LED display at the nick of the Moment around 1:14 PM and managed to speak to the driver and get in . A suggestion , you may like to change the painting on the side to include both airports . It is an essential service and will help avoid confusion hassles . Thank you very much for your attention . Laurianne was a knowledgeable and friendly guide who shared facts about the food and the city itself. We expected to taste more traditional French dishes and so it would be helpful if this could be clearer in the description. An enjoyable experience overall.

Excellent place to go to spent about three hours here. Had a great time even my 18 year-olds enjoyed it.

Our guide Émilie was friendly and very knowledgeable and we would recommend the tour.

Very pleasant activity. The visit to Lille is both informative and pleasant.
