Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Lhasa
On arrival at the Lhasa airport you’ll be welcomed by your professional English-speaking tour guide and then transferred to the Lhasa hotel that you booked for your stay.

Day 2: Lhasa (Meals: L)
Today you’ll explore the city of Lhasa. Your first stop will be the Potala Palace, 13 stories high, containing more than 1,000 rooms and 10,000 shrines - and 10,000 steps. This is the largest structure in Tibet. Afterwards, your guide will show you Tibet’s most-celebrated temple, the Jokhang Temple.

In the afternoon the pace is a bit more relaxed and you’ll have time to browse the shops in Barkhor Street to shop and look at some of the local crafts.

Day 3: Lhasa (Meals: L)
The first stop of the day will be a visit to Norbulingka. Its name means Jeweled Garden, and the structure was built as a summer palace for the Dalai Lama. It later served as a location for the entire administration of the government. Afterwards you’ll visit Drepung Monastery , which at one time was the residential palace for the Dalai Lamas before the Potala Palace was constructed during China’s Qing Dynasty.

After lunch your guide will take you to see Sera Monastery. This is one of the most important monasteries in Tibet. As one of the 3 main monasteries in Lhasa, it is here that the famous daily debate of the monks would take place. You’ll head on from here to a carpet factory, where you’ll get a general idea of how these exquisite carpets are produced. Carpets are one of the most popular souvenirs for visitors to Tibet.

Day 4: Yambajan – Lake Namtso (Meals: L)
After breakfast you’ll travel with your guide to Yambajan and Lake Namtso. Yambajan is well-known for its hot springs and is a good opportunity to have a close-up look at the lifestyle of semi-nomadic Tibetan herders.

Lake Namtso is the 2nd-largest salt water lake in China. It’s a lovely sight with its azure water and the surrounding snow-capped peaks.

Day 5: Departure from Lhasa
You have the day free until your guide escorts you to the airport for your departing flight.
