A half day is all you need to trade air-conditioned Vegas for kayaking on the Colorado River. Come see beautiful Emerald Cave, take a short hike on a historic trail and enjoy lunch with a front-row seat for a show nature has been rehearsing for millennia.
What to Expect
If kayaking the Colorado River intrigues you, but a full day is too long or too much, this Black Canyon trip pulls together a good number of highlights.
We take the Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge to our put-in point at Willow Beach. As you paddle out into the river, you pass a fish hatchery en route to a historic trailhead where we get out and take a short hike with incredible views and ruins you can explore.
Float through a narrow channel to discover Emerald Cave, where beautiful green water makes for a great photo opportunity. Beyond is a sandy beach, where you'll enjoy a picnic lunch with incomparable views.Take a refreshing swim before kayaking back to Willow Beach.
Then it's time for lunch!
During your trip you may see Desert Bighorn sheep, bald eagles and coyotes, and striped bass playing in the river.
Lunches include a sandwich, a piece of fruit, carrots, celery and ranch dip, and a homemade cookie.
Sandwich selections: Turkey and Cheddar, Ham and Cheddar, BLT, PB&J, Veggie wrap with humus and jack cheese and tomato/basil tortilla, Chicken Caesar Wrap - Caesar dressing served on the side, Chef Salad with meat cheese and egg.
Dressing choice: Greek, 100 isle, ranch, bleu cheese.
Sandwiches are served on telera rolls (except PB&J..it's on white bread) and lettuce, tomato and onion and include ayo and mustard on the side.
