What People Are Saying About La Boqueria

If you love to cook, everyone at this experience had a wonderful time!

We were a little disappointed to learn that we booked on a Sunday, a day the market was closed. But, instead of the market tour, which we had already done on our own, we did a walk thru the neighborhood, stopping at shops and stores to look at the wares and learn a little history of the neighborhood. For us, this was completely satisfactory. Then, we arrived at the kitchen/dining. The venue is wonderful - lots of room, big cooking space and plenty of opportunity to meet and make new friends, which we did. Immediately, some of us were chosen to make tapas, while others chatted and drank sangrias. After the tapas, we began the paella cooking, learning the history of the dish and the best practices for making it. Everyone got a job to do,there was lots of talking and laughing and picture taking, and then we got to eat. Marvelous! Our chef, Alex, talked with us about the traditions of eating with family and having paella, as well as some background on the experience itself.

A fun night shopping in the open air market and cooking paella!

What a fun night! I really enjoyed touring the open air market! I only wish I had time to shop for myself there (I did pick up some fresh figs and a fruit smoothie as I walked through--YUM). It was a hoot to watch the volunteers learn to clean squid. The food was delicious. They made non-alcholic drinks for those of us who don't drink alcohol. I will say there is a lot of fast walking involved from the meeting point to the market and from the market to the restaurant. If you have problems walking quickly, this might not be the tour for you. Otherwise, I highly recommend the tour.

It is really worth attending this guided tour!

When I planned the trip to Barcelona, I did not want to have to many fixed dates. Actually this was the only 'appointment' we (my gf an me) had during our 3-day stay in BCN. We met our tour guide, Colin at the meeting point. There were quite a lot of people because a group booked some other tour as well, also met there. At first I was concerned, if the tour would happen since only 4 persons showed up. Colin told us he does the tours even if there is just one person. Nice! The tour led us to the famous places in Barcelona as well as to some 'hidden secrets'. I don't want spoil anything here. So my advice is to take the time and give it a try. The tour ended right in front of the Mercat de la Boquerìa, which is a perfect place to have something to eat. Thank you Colin for the excellent tour and also thank you for all the hints about BCN. Great hands-on paella cooking experience

Loved Ayal's presentation and tour of the Barcelona markets to start. Enjoyably more hands on than we expected with 20 other participants and sangria by the jug. Ayal took us through the process step-by-step and we all learnt many new things during the evening. A great walk and cooking experience!
