This demonstration lasted about an hour and change and took place in a Buddhist temple in a traditional setting that included paper walls and tatami mats on which we sat. Our host, Marcy, was very proficient and set our small group of five and two small children at ease. Not only did she prepare macha for us to sample but explained the ritual in detail and answered our many questions. Afterward, we sampled Japanese sweets and made our own tea from macha powder with a whisk in large tea vessels. It was a charming experience.
Extremely educational and unique experience. Was really cool to experience the tea ceremony at a temple And also the guide explained a lot about the temple which was very interesting. The tea was great and I would highly recommend this experience !
No one else arrived, so we ended up with a private tour. The guide was very kind, and very knowledgeable. It was a great, authentic-feeling experience! Great value for money. I would recommend for those seeking a cultural experience.
