Full description

Spend a day visiting one of the most famous Ukrainian phenomenons at the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone and its surroundings on a day trip in a van. Walk through the abandoned town of Pripyat, learn about the history of the nuclear disaster that took place in 1986, and have lunch in the abandoned power station's canteen. Embark on a unique trip to see the zone where one of the greatest ecological disasters in human history took place: Chernobyl. Listen to your guide recount the consequences for the local population in the model city of the Soviet Union, Pripyat, and the whole region of Ukrainian Polissya. Observe a part of the world that has seen no human alteration in decades. Despite learning what happened here and the scope of the tragedy, you are going to find it impossible to resist certain charms of the zone.

Hear the story preceding the accident on 26 April 1986, learn about what happened that night at the power plant, and about the scope of all the consequences still being tackled today. Then, eat lunch in a different area: In the power station’s canteen. The hearty meal, prepared for employees, includes a variety of dishes made with organic products.

The tour was really well organized. Booking the tour is not difficult either. What I recommend everyone is to book a two day tour, because you can see more and there is more to tell about the guide. It is really very exciting and interesting what happened in Prypiat and Chernobyl back then. Ideally suited for history buffs and nostalgic fans. For example, what I did not find so good, two in our group were heavily alcoholic. In the email it is expressly stated that it is forbidden to appear drunk on the tour. Entry can even be denied at checkpoints, but then the whole group will not be able to enter. But the guide should pay attention to something like that.

Amazing day trip made all the better by Irina.

We couldn’t have had a better guide for this tour. Irina has worked at the plant in more recent year’s and her husband used to live in Pripyat. This was a place very close to her heart and I could tell she absolutely loved this job making the experience all the better for us. Perfect day trip.

We did the tour yesterday. The meeting place was easy to find and we had good luck with the two guides as well. Much knowledge, open to questions and also understandable English had both. It would have been nice to see one or the other even closer, but you also have to see the risks of the dilapidated buildings, so it's easy to understand why you get the most impressions from a few meters away. For a day trip the right decision and only to be recommended.
