What to Expect
The day tour leaves from Durban and progresses through Pietermaritzburg, the capital city of Kwazulu Natal, where the statue marks of Mahatma Gandhi will be seen. Then move to the city hall of Pietermaritzburg, the biggest city hall in Kwazulu Natal. Afterwards the tour takes you up to the Sani Pass. It is a 33 km gravel road that straddles the sheer cliffs of the Drakensburg mountains escarpment in a series of tight zigzag curves.
The routes begin at the Sani Pass Hotel, which is 1566 m above sea level.You then travel in a Land Rover 4x4 upwards along the narrow road crossing the South Africa/Lesotho border post which is 1968 m above sea level, where pass ports will be presented.
A drive down to the village to meet Basotho, spending time learning their ways of living. As you travel up the pass, you enjoy spectacular views rolling hills and vast skies. A delicious lunch will be enjoying at a highest pub in Africa which sits 2873 abouve sea level. Afterwards you will be transferred back to Durban.
