What to Expect
In 1885 a young Chinese pewtersmith named Yong Koon set sail to Kuala Lumpur. The discovery of tin in Malaysia had lured him, amongst thousands of others, to the emerging tin mines. He founded a little shop selling handcrafted pewter products. The story of what was to become Malaysia’s most iconic and worldwide best-known pewter brand, Royal Selangor, had begun.

Nowadays Royal Selangor’s pewter factory has a workforce of almost 300 craftsmen and is renowned for its fine craftsmanship. Visit its award-winning Visitor Centre, and get hands-on in one of the traditional pewtersmithing workshops they offer. Learn the traditional methods of pewtersmithing and make your own pewter bowl.

Be inspired by Royal Selangor's innovative designs, created by its talented team of in-house designers featuring international talents such as Danish designer Erik Magnussen, British designer Nick Munro and Australian design team Zuii.
