Full description

Enjoy an afternoon and evening tour to the dramatic 400-million-year-old Batu Caves and see hundreds of thousands of twinkling fireflies on a boat tour of the Selangor River. Continue to Batu Caves to roam in the prehistoric caves, after a climb of 272 steps. See some of the Hindu temples that have been established here since the early 1900s, such as the temples to Lord Murugan, Siva, and Ganesh. Next, you will go to Kuala Selangor, one of the most historic and conflicted areas during the early stages of the Malay Sultanate Selangor. It is also famous for its Seafood Restaurant, where you will enjoy dinner. But before dinner, stop at Bukit Malawati at the highest point in Kuala Selangor, and admire the fort that monitored ships along the Strait of Malacca and Selangor River. The area is home to some cheeky Silver Leaf Monkeys, which are more friendly and tame compared to the monkeys at Batu Caves. Dinner will be served at a local restaurant to allow where you can try local food. Choose from a aariety of favorite Malaysian food such as Bariani Rice, Roti Canai, Kaya Toast Bread, and Fried Noodle. Finally, drive to Kampung Belimbing Fireflies Park. Quietly float out to see the incredible twinkles of the largest fireflies colony in the world. Marvel at the ability of these amazing lightning bugs to synchronize their light patterns, before your return to Kuala Lumpur at approximately 21:30.

Such a great tour and would recommend to anyone. First stop was the batu caves, we were given a perfect amount of time to explore and the religious traditions were explained to us. Next up was a monkey sanctuary, got so many photos with the monkeys and was definitely an experience to remember. We then got great seafood at a local restaurant recommended by the host, but was given the opportunity to chose which cuisine we wanted. The highlight was the boat tour, to see the fireflies, we were wary it would not meet our expectations but they were in fact exceeded, was such a surreal experience seeing them light up the trees. Can fully recommend this tour.

We recently did this tour and had a brilliant afternoon with Bala, our guide. The Batu Caves, visiting the Silverback monkeys and seeing the fireflies made for a great tour and it was also really good to see some of the real Malaysia, outside of KL and more tourist-y areas. What made our afternoon though was our guide, Bala - he was professional, incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, but also self aware and very kind, going out of his way to make sure that we were comfortable. He helped us to order dinner in a local restaurant and we learned so much from him about Malaysia, it's culture and it's history. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend both this trip and Bala as a guide.

Fantastic combination! You see many different things in the time of the excursion (about 7 hours). You must see batucaves when you are in KL, monkeys were really super cute, the food was delicious and the fireflies sports from one rowboat was a really nice experience! Our guide, Zach, was fantastic!
