Visit the Wieliczka Salt Mine, which produced table salt from the 13th century until 1996 and see Krakow, the most popular tourist destination in Poland on a tour with a guide.
What to Expect
This tour starts in Warsaw. You will be picked up by English speaking driver from your hotel. First you will visit the Wieliczka Salt Mine, which was built in the 13th century and produced table salt continuously until 1996. Under the ground level you will find salt sculptures, lakes and unbelievably spectacular chambers. More than 1 million of tourists visit the mine annually – not without any reason. Afterwards, your driver will take you for lunch in a local restaurant either in Auschwitz or in Krakow depending on timing.
In Krakow a local guide will take you for a tour around the city. You will see among others the Town Hall Tower, St. Mary’s Basilica, Krakow Barbicane and ‘Sukiennice‘ (Cloth Hall). The most interesting sight is the Wawel Hill with Cathedral and Royal Castle - place of royal coronations, weddings and funerals. Some of its oldest stone buildings can be dated back to 10th century. In a cave at the foot of the hill, on the bank of the Vistula River, Wawel Dragon had his lair – the dragon’s cave is now a popular tourist stop. After the tour you will come back to Warsaw around 22:00.
