Overview
Visit the scenic Mueang Kanchanaburi region of Thailand, famous for its World War II history and natural beauty. Explore the area by road, river and railway, visit the historic POW cemetery, the unique JEATH War Museum and the Bridge on the River Kwai.
What to Expect
Depart Bangkok and travel west to the Mueang Kanchanaburi District to honor the memories of more than 6,000 World War II prisoners buried in the cemetery where they were interred.

Continue to the JEATH War Museum to learn the story of how the Japanese put Allied prisoners of war (POWs) to work building the Burma Railway and why it became known as the "Death Railway." Learn the harsh realities of war and see mementoes left behind.

Then, travel upstream along the Mae Klong River by long-tail speedboat, and head for Bridge 277, famous as the inspiration for the book and film of the "Bridge over the River Kwai." Admire the black iron and concrete structure, still in use today, and then walk across the bridge to the local market. Next, take a ride on the "Death Railway" and reflect on the lives lost during its construction as you look at the serene views.

Disembark the train and take a short hike through the jungle, and enjoy a delicious buffet lunch at the Jungle Restaurant. Return to Bangkok revived and refreshed and with poignant memories of your day trip to the Bridge over the River Kwai.
