Discover some of the largest sand dunes in Europe and watch the cormorants on a kayak trip that takes you away from the tourist crowds. Paddle in the shallow waters off the Curonian Spit and explore unique landscapes only accessible by water.
What to Expect
The Curonian Spit is a 100-kilometer-long, narrow peninsula separating the mainland and the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea. In 2000 UNESCO listed the Curonian Spit as a World Heritage Site.
While largely known for its drifting sand dunes, pine forests, elk population, and fine beaches, the Curonian Spit also boasts a rich cultural heritage in the traditional way of life of its fishermen, the ethnic Curonians (Kuršiai) group, and in east Prussian history.
The kayaking route for this full-day excursion stretches along the coastline of a nature reserve that is only accessible by water. Discover majestic sand dunes while paddling in the safe and shallow waters of the Curonian Lagoon between the villages of Juodkrantė and Pervalka. See fishermen on the lagoon and listen to the stories of your local guide.
