After breakfast, your driver-guide will collect you and your safari will commence. You will drive from Moshi to Tarangire National Park. This takes approximately 3 hours. The name of the park originates from the Tarangire River that crosses through the park, being the only source of water for wild animals during dry seasons. The park is famous for its huge number of elephants, baobab trees, and tree climbing African pythons. The park covers an area of approximately 2,850 square kilometers. You will enjoy a day of game viewing, with a picnic lunch looking out over the river to break up the time in the car. After a nice game drive, before it gets dark, you will drive to the lodge or campsite for dinner and an overnight stay. Following breakfast, you will meet your guide before transferring to the park entrance where you will begin your Kilimanjaro climb. Following some formalities at the park entrance, you will enter the rain forest for a gentle walk through verdant scenery to Mandara Hut. For those who don't want to summit the mighty Kilimanjaro, a day trip may offer you the perfect alternative. You can walk via the Marangu route up to Mandara Hut, which is 2,700 meters above sea level. Once up at the Marangu Hut, you will be able to explore a small crater. The total duration of the trip will take around 7 hours.
