Kiev is more than 1,500 years old. Antiquity and the present amazingly co-exist on its streets. During this tour you will have a chance to see the most interesting sights of the city, which, like the landmarks of time, designated the pages of its history:
What to Expect
Kiev - the capital of a large European state, the seminary of the Slavic civilization, and one of the world's most beautiful cities - lies scenically spread along the banks of the Dniper river.
Kiev traces its roots back to ancient times with a history spanning 1,500 years. At almost every stage since its inception Kiev has been an administrative and political center: in the 7th-8th cc. it was the nucleus of an early Slavic polity, Polanian principality, in the 9th-12th cc. the capital of Kievan Rus, a mighty East-Slavic state, well-known in Europe, Asia and the Near East. Even after its devastating invasion by the Tatars in 1240s Kiev remained the center of the Kievan Principality.
