Rovaniemi: Day Trip to the Snow Castle in Kemi

2. Rovaniemi: Day Trip to the Snow Castle in Kemi

Departing early in the morning from Rovaniemi, you will be picked up from your hotel and head 116km to the sea coast of Kemi. The journey takes about 1 hour and the sightseeing along the way is amazing. At around 1:00pm, a lunch buffet will be provided. Situated right on the Bothnian Bay, the majestic castle of Kemi rises up as in a fairy-tale world of the frosty Finnish winter. Each year in January, local professional designers are in charge of designing and reconstructing the unique and massive Snow Castle. It starts to melt only when the shiny sunlight starts to peek out through the clouds in the springtime. Along with the looming castle walls, which are over twelve feet high, the area also features a hotel, art gallery, and chapel, where some people even travel across the globe to hold an exquisite marriage ceremony. Each portion of the castle is lit with colorful lights that add splendor to the ethereal ice walls. Many artists come to lend their talents to the castle by creating ice sculptures throughout the waterside structure as well. Children and anyone with the spirit of a child may experience the delight and excitement the two original snow-mascots Arttu and Terttu offer at the Snow Castle daily.

We had a fabulous time on our tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, the bus driver was very good. Even on the snowy, iced up roads that day I always felt safe with his driving. The boat was great, smooth, the tour and meeting the captain was fun. Floating in the life saving suits was awesome, what an experience! Lunch buffet was very good, nice choice of dishes. The entire tour was very organized, fun and an unique experience.

The cruise was a fantastic experience! Very well organized, we are impressed. It's nice that you can buy a line with photos from swimming, a very positive surprise. The only minus point that the organizers should think about is that they should distribute the certificates of the cruise with the name and surname printed on it. We would love to repeat this great attraction. WE RECOMMEND !!!

Fabulous experience - transport was good. Icebreaker and swimming a once in a lifetime opportunity and all brilliant . Scenery beautiful. The lunch at the Swedish restaurant was traditional and delicious in beautiful riverfront setting, positioned on the Swedish side of the river looking into Finland. Everything about the day was fantastic

First of all, thanks to our guide named SHIARCA (but I'm not sure if you write it like this) for his kindness, patience, professionalism and SMILE, then everything else is wonderful (of course if you paid a little less it would be even more beautiful)

Unique and perfectly organized experience. Highly recommended!
