Walk the rooftop of the world on a 4-hour tour with one of the Buddhist monks of Nepal. Find your inner peace at Kopan Monastery, and see the famous stupa in the company of a Buddhist lama. Learn more about the monk’s activities over lunch.
What to Expect
Explore the traditions, beliefs, and practices of Buddhism on an exclusive half-day walking tour to the famous Kopan Monastery, and see one of the main sites of Buddhist pilgrimage in Nepal.
Meet your guide in the Thamel tourist district of Kathmandu, and walk to the Bodnath Stupa, one of the holiest Buddhist sites of the city. Admire the massive mandala of the large spherical stupa, where many Tibetan refugees live. At Kopan Monastery you will participate in a philosophy session about Buddhism, followed by a short meditation. Find your inner peace with the help of your personal lama.
After lunch, the monk will lead you around the monastery complex, and the fertile fields on the outskirts of Kathmandu. Visit the local villages of Bodnath to debate and discuss the principles of Buddhism some more.
Your lama guide will be happy to answer any questions you have, before taking you to a prayer session, where you will light some candles in one of the many Tibetan gompas.
