What to Expect
Enjoy an alternative tour of the Kathmandu Valley, cycling the scenic paths and local villages of the fertile southern section.

Meet your guide in Kathmandu for the transfer to Jhamsikhel, where you will pick up your bikes. The route has been created by a famous Nepali rock star and is aimed at those who want to glimpse behind the Nepalese culture. It is not suitable for beginners as it features a number of technical challenges.

You will learn how marijuana was once used in Nepal for medicinal purposes, and hear stories about the Chariot of Seto Machindranath, one of the most important festival of the Newari community. Cycle along single track paths through rice paddies and the beautiful villages of Kokhana and Bungamati. Despite its small size, Bungamati is home to around 100 people who earn their living from wood carving, and you will get the chance to see some of their crafts.

Tour the tiny hamlet of Khokana to see the important 3-story Shree Rudrayani temple, dedicated to the goddess Durga. Khokana has been nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its vernacular culture and mustard oil harvesting. During the tour, you will stop for a local lunch and coffee break, when you can sample some of the Newari cuisine.
