What to Expect
Visit Lhasa - the heart and soul of Tibet. This historical capital city rose to prominence in the 7th century AD, and has quite the tale to tell! You will fly over remarkable views of the city and its surrounding areas on our journey to Everest base camp. On our journey we will also see the city of Shigatse, the second largest in Tibet.

See remarkable views of the different faces of the Himalayan Range. You'll glimpse the north side, home to stretching snow mountains and inhospitable land. And the south side, which is full of luscious green lands and cascading waterfalls. Marvel at Mother Nature's masterpiece on this trek of the Himalayan Range.

Day 1 : Flight Kathmandu - Lhasa

You will fly to Lhasa from Kathmandu. After your flight you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel in Lhasa, where we will relax for the rest of the day in Lhasa. Here you will acclimatize and relax, you are advised to drink a lots of water on your 1st day in Lhasa. We also advise a short stroll around the Barkhor street and the Jokhang temple.

Day 2/3: Lhasa sightseeing

We will visit the magnificent Potala palace and Derpung monastery (once the largest Buddhist learning center in Tibet, housing more than 10,0000 monks). You will also visit the Sera monastery, where we visit the monks debating at the summer palace of the Dalai Lama. Here you will see the most sacred shrine in Tibet Jokhang temple and the Barkhor, which is most popular market and sacred walk for all Tibetans in Lhasa.

Day 4: Day trip to Ganden

We will enjoy a day trip to the Ganden monastery, here we visit the monastery and partake in an optional 45min walk around the monastery. Or simply journey back to Lhasa for the night.

Day 5: Lhasa / Gyangtse 270kms / 7hrs

We leave Lhasa and the Kyi Chu valley and journey towards the Khampa la pass (4730metres). At the pass we enjoy a short break for stunning views of major white peaks in the eastern regions of Himalaya. Whilst here we see the young Norjing Gang Sang spiritual snow mountain range, which spans to the west across the turquoise colored waving waters of Yamdrok lake. We will descend from the pass down close to the lake, driving past local nomadic and farming villages to the western edge of Yamdrok Lake. Here we will enjoy beautiful views as we take our lunch break at Nagar Tse. After lunch we continue our scenic driving to Karo la pass (5050metres), for a scenic stop at Norjing Gang Sang Glacier Peak. We reach Gyangtse in the late afternoon to check into our hotel.

Day 6: Gyangtse / Shigatse 90kms / 2hrs

We will visit the Palchor Chode monastery, including the Kumbum stupa. After a short walk around the oldest part of the town, and a visit the ancient Gyangtse Dzong, we will drive to Shigatse. During your journey we will visit Tibetan farming families before we arrive in Shigatse. Here we will tour the Tashi Lunpo monastery and spend the late afternoon walking around the old town of Shigatse, and the local traditional market. We stay the night in a hotel in Shigatse.

Day 7: Shigatse / Sakya / Shekar 290kms / 5hrs

We leave from Shigatse where we will take a de-tour to the Sakya monastery. Here we will spend the afternoon exploring the Sakya monastery, which has biggest Buddhist scripture library in Tibet. Whilst here we spend a bit of time wandering around the surrounding villages, survived from the Cultural Revolution. We leave Sakya for Shekar in the late afternoon, and we will stay here for the night.

Day 8: Shekar - Rombuk - Old Tingri / 170kms / 5hrs

After an early departure we drive to Rombuk, crossing Gyawu la passs. This is a good sport for a panoramic view of the sun rising over the greatest part of the Himalayas. We will continue to Rombuk for our afternoon excursion to Everest base camp (Hiking from Rombuk monastery up to Everest base camp and back). During late afternoon we will head to Old Tingri for an over night stay.

Day 9: Old Tingri / Zhangmu 240kms / 5hrs

We spend a relaxed morning in Old Tingri, and take a walk around the village after lunch. From here you can see Mt. Everest and Cho O Yu, under clear weather conditions. We continue our trip to Zhang Mu border, and make a short scenic stop at Thong la pass for a panoramic view of Himalaya. From here there is a scenic descent down driving deep into Himalaya. After our drive we arrive in Zhangmu for our hotel stay.

Day 10: Zhangmu - Kodari - cross border 8km / 20min + 115 Km./ 4 hours

After breakfast we go through the Chinese immigration cross border and continue on the Araniko highway. A scenic drive along the snow fed Sunkoshi river will take you past beautiful villages and old and new towns with vibrant markets, after which we will finish back in Kathmandu.
