What to Expect
Located 85 miles (140 kilometers) west of Kathmandu, Chitwan National Park covers 332 square miles (932 square kilometers) of sub tropical forest, consisting of grassland, Sal forest and river rainforest. One of the most diverse wildlife areas in Nepal, this 3-day safari gives you the chance to see tigers, rhinos, crocodiles, bears and Asian elephants.

The park habitat also attracts more than 500 residential and migratory species of birds, and is a superb place to explore flora and fauna within a short period of time. Nepal’s first National Park, it sits in the Inner Teral lowlands and boasts the largest elephant breeding center in Asia, where you will encounter many baby elephants.

Day 1: Drive to Chitwan
After breakfast in Kathmandu, depart for Chitwan at 07:00, driving along the scenic Prithivi Highway. The bus will make a stop for snacks and refreshments during the 5-hour trip.

In Chitwan, you will be met by a tour representative who will take you to your hotel for a welcome drink and time to freshen up. You will get a safari briefing by your nature guide while having lunch. Enjoy a short rest, before visiting a typical village of the ethnic Tharu people. Take a short hike or ox ride through the village and visit the museum.

Watch the sunset from the riverbank, before dinner and a program of Nepalese culture at the hotel.

Day 2: Explore Day
After an early morning drink, enjoy a 90-minute elephant safari in the community forest. Return to the hotel for breakfast and proceed for further adventure excursions, which can include a canoe ride, jungle walk looking for tigers, leopards and all the other magnificent animals of the jungle, or a visit to an elephant breeding farm, where you can delight to the elephants’ bath time.

Day 3: Bird Watching Tour - Return to Kathmandu
Spend the morning bird watching in the National Park. Chitwan attracts the largest number of birds in Nepal, including several endangered species. Depending on the time of year, common sightings will include Brahminy Ducks, kingfisher, egret and the Paradise Flycatcher.

Return to the hotel for breakfast and then proceed to Kathmandu. You will take the same route back to the city, and meet a tour representative in the evening to discuss your experience.

Meeting Point

What to Remember
• While you are in the jungle it is suggested you do not wear bright clothes. It is better to have dim long T-shirts and pants. Bring binoculars.
