Following a pick-up from your hotel at 08:00, transfer to the Royal Botanical Gardens and discover the former 14th-century pleasure gardens of a Kandyan queen. Marvel at more than 4,000 tropical and subtropical flora, including spice and herb gardens and orchids.
Depart the Botanical Gardens at 13:00 and transfer to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Explore the nursery and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants in Pinnawala village. Return to Kandy at 15:00, and visit the Spice Garden to savor the aromas of some of the island’s most famous crops. Enjoy some free time to shop before the start of a cultural show at 16:30.
Next, go to the Tooth Temple to see the “Sacred Relic of the Tooth of Buddha.” Located in the Royal Palace of the former Kingdom of Kandy, the relic has played an important role in local politics as it is believed that whoever holds it holds the governance of the country! Transfer back to your hotel for a drop off at 20:00.
