What People Are Saying About Jewish Historical Museum
Excellent value for money. Our guide Tina was very informative and kept the tour very interesting.
Firstly we met at the Gassons Diamond factory which is interesting to see how they create the nice shiny diamonds we all know and love from what they collect from the mine. Our tour guide Andy was fantastic and knowledgeable with interesting stories to tell as we walked the beautiful streets of Amsterdam. Our second stop was at the Jewish Museum, again highly interesting but not somewhere you could spend more than an hour in. Andy then took us across the road to the Portuguese Synagogue and told us of the history of the Jews in the city during the second world war and about the Jewish religion whilst we wandered around the Synagogue (which was stunning). Lastly we took a bus ride to the Anne Frank House (past all the ques of people) straight to the front and here we were left to explore alone. This place is just simply breathtaking and is well worth waiting all day to visit, it really hits home to think how 8 people lived in such a small confined space for so long. A must visit!
Our tour guide was absolutely great. He was so incredible knowledgeable about the history of the Jewish sites in Amsterdam. He made us feel very comfortable and was professional and respectful to everyone.
Would highly recommend this tour and Pieter as the guide. His knowledge of the subject matter was outstanding and his compassion for a difficult subject and the plight of Holland was humbling.
Main downside: the first hour was basically an infomercial at Gassan Diamonds. After that, the tour began and was excellent.
