The 21 hour trip is hard because of the driving (appx. six+ hours each way ),and a slow, very disorganized border crossing, but the Petra experience is worth it. We loved that we were able to go and next time, will plan a two-day trip with one night at a hotel. There is so much to see and nowhere near enough time to enjoy it all. Petra is absolutely astounding! Also, the "lunch" bag had terrible food - a plain, dry bagel with nothing inside, a very brown banana, one apple and one orange, a juice drink box (not real juice, but sugar and water), and an expired-date wafer bar. Our bar said it was good until December 2019 and clearly we are way past that . Considering we paid $300 pp, plus the extra fees of $125pp, a better lunch would have been reasonable to expect. Perhaps a quick lunch at a plaza cafe?

The guides are all excellent. However, it took more than an hour more than planned, because we gathered too many people across the border. The free time was only 45 minutes (including the time to return to the bus), so I managed to go to the colonnade and return immediately. It's a bullet tour so it can't be helped.

The trip is very exhausting if it is undertaken as a 1 day tour, but it is worth seeing Petra. The organization was excellent. the guide very informative.
