What to Expect
Travel back to the days of the Byzantine and Ottoman empires on a half-day sightseeing tour of Istanbul, and enjoy panoramic views of the city from Galata Tower.
Following a pick-up from your hotel, transfer by air-conditioned vehicle to Galata Tower, built by the Byzantines before being destroyed during the Sack of Constantinople. Rebuilt during the Genoese expansion in Constantinople in the 14th century, the Romanesque tower offers magnificent views of the city and Bosphorus.
Continue to the Golden Horn to experience one of Istanbul’s most attractive places. Learn some of the city’s legends as you see old buildings that are woven into the fabric of everyday life and Istanbul’s history.
Next, visit the Eyup Sultan Mosque just outside the city walls, and learn why it is such importance to the city. Drive to the Pierre Loti Café, named after the French writer Julien Vio who visited the city often. Watch the world go by and enjoy the views from the top of the hill as you sip from a cup of strong Turkish coffee.
